Committees
Aquatics
Develops and promotes educational opportunities and programs for MRPA; reviews water safety policies and issues that affect the industry.
 

 

Athletics
Establishes, enforces, and interprets all athletic rules that pertain to the provision and administration of MRPA athletic tournaments.

 
Awards
Recognizes professional excellence through an awards program noting outstanding contributions to the association, the profession, and community service.
 
 
Certification
Supports NRPA’s national certification program for Certified Parks and Recreation Professionals (CPRP); reviews and approves educational programs for Continuing Education Unit credit; promotes the value and benefits of professional certification.  
 
Plans and organizes the MRPA Annual Conference, including site selection, exhibit hall, workshops, speakers, and entertainment.
 
Directors' Roundtable
Serves as a forum for the agency directors of MRPA to discuss ideas relevant to the industry.
 
Represents the interests of minorities in the profession; provides networking, involvement, and representation on all committees; enhances avenues for recognition and professional growth within MRPA.
 
Marketing and Membership
Works with Communications Coordinator to develop and implement communication for the association, both internal and external; develops and markets MRPA publications to its members and the public.


Park Resources
Creates and maintains awareness of park resources and identifies areas of concern, such as planning, recommendations of seminars, and reference and technical assistance.

Past Presidents
Represents all former presidents of MRPA.
 

Professional Development
Works with other committees to develop training for MRPA members through workshops, conference sessions, and other training opportunities.

 

Programming
Gives recreation programmers the opportunity to share ideas, resources, and programs on a state level.
 

Public Policy
Monitors state and federal legislation dealing with parks, tourism, and recreation issues; suggests positions to the MRPA Board and keeps membership informed.
 
Scholarship
Develops fundraisers to benefit students majoring in the parks and recreation field at colleges and universities throughout Michigan; awards annual scholarships to deserving students.
 

Seniors
Establishes all policies and events pertaining to MRPA senior citizen activities; plans revenue-generating projects and conducts a range of activities throughout Michigan.

Students
Establishes all policies, procedures, and events regarding involvement with MRPA by students in Michigan colleges and universities.
 

Therapeutic Recreation
Provides a broad range of services to enable therapeutic recreation professionals to function effectively in their field as well as to enhance professional growth and development.

Trails, Greenways, Blueways, and Open Spaces
Promotes statewide network of trails and greenways; enhances the movement of trail advancement nationally and statewide; promotes recreation opportunities to enhance quality of life.
 

Youth and Teen Initiatives
Serves as a network for City Adminstrators, Council Members, Mayors, Parks & Recreation Professionals, Coalition Members, Youth Councils and others to connect and share ideas through statewide youth & teen initiatives.
