National Playground Safety Institute
(CPSI Certification Course and Exam)

Next course offering will be in summer 2012!

Known as the most comprehensive training program on public playground safety, the National Playground Safety Institute offers hours of training by nationally certified playground safety experts, preparing professionals to successfully complete the Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) exam.

MRPA offers the Institute once annually to properly train participants to recognize and prevent potential playground hazards. There are no prerequesites to attending the course and taking the exam, the only requirement is the desire to make playgrounds safe for children in your community.

The next National Playground Safety Institute (CPSI Certification Course and Exam) will be hosted by MRPA in late summer 2012. Stay tuned for details!

Who Should Attend?          What Topics and Materials Does NPSI Cover?

Why is Playground Safety and Certification Important?  Did you know:

• More than 156,000 playground injuries occur each year, resulting in an average of 15 fatalities annually

• 79% of all playground injuries are the result of falls

• Playground hazards are the responsibility of owners, operators, designers, manufacturers, and all other caretakers responsible for children on the playground

• Learn more about playground safety hazards from NRPA's publication "Dirty Dozen: Top 12 Safety Hazards in America's Playgrounds" by clicking here.

A note about NPSI:

Those wishing to re-certify without taking the course may register for the exam only (however MRPA and NRPA recommend the NPSI course for all re-certifying professionals, as new regulations and material may be added to the course and exam).
