Planning for Accessibility. Funding for Accessibility.

An Important 2-Day Workshop

Providing access to recreation to build healthy communities is a fundamental goal of parks and recreation departments. The Michigan Recreation and Parks Association Foundation will host two, two-day regional workshops covering program access and compliance, ADA standards, universal design, best practices, and transition planning.

At the end of the sessions, attendees will be able to:

  • Evaluate current facilities for ADA compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for new and/or upgraded facilities that incorporate the principles of universal design.
  • Develop a transition plan to ensure compliance with ADA law, identify areas for improvement, and develop a strategy to make the improvements. (Transition plans often assist communities applying for grant funding.)
