The Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) program is a state-of-the-art five-year certification for professionals who manage, maintain and operate aquatic facilities. The key to earning certification is the successful completion of the two-day course and sixty-five question AFO examination. Once certified, the aquatic professional will have the skills and knowledge to operate a clean, safe and fun aquatic environment with effeciency and confidence. Learn more.
MRPA's TRI brings together Therapeutic Recreation professionals from a variety of backgrounds for educational sessions, networking and sharing of best practices and programs. The 2011 TRI will be held as a Pre-Conference Session of the MRPA Conference & Trade Show in February. TRI events will take place February 6-7, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn. Please note, interested TRI participants ARE NOT required to attend the MRPA Conference & Trade Show. More details will be available soon.
Each year the MRPA Trails, Greenways and Blueways Committee presents the Michigan Trails Summit in conjunction with the MRPA Conference & Trade Show. The event brings together park, recreation, trail and transportation advocates to discuss new trends in trailways, opportunitites for partnership and more. The 2012 Michigan Trails Summit will take place February 7 at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn. More details will be posted in the near future.
Through the activities of the MRPA Scholarship Committee, the Association is able to offer up to $14,000 in scholarship and internship awards each spring to students enrolled in a parks and recreation curriculum at a college or university in Michigan. The MRPA Foundation provides professional development scholarships to MRPA members twice annually. Learn more.
