Voting Items for MRPA Board of Directors

The MRPA Board of Directors approved  the following two items in addition to the amendments to the Constitution and Manual of Procedures.

Should the MRPA Board Approve Bridge Loan from MRPA Foundation?

In the event that a short term loan is needed to assure proper cash flow for the Michigan Recreation and Park Association, the MRPA Foundation has offered to provide such a loan - not to exceed $16,000.

Conditions of the Foundation Bridge Loan include the following:

-The Foundation would be placed first on the list to be re-paid if the Association were to go into dissolution.

- The Foundation will have a representative on the current Visioning Ad-Hoc Committee (Traci Sincock).

- The Foundation will send two representatives (at their own cost) to the 2010 MRPA Board Retreat.

"The MRPA Board appreciates this offer of support, which originated from the MRPA Foundation. We want the membership and the Board to be aware of the offer and the terms - each of you is entitled to know exactly how your Leadership Team is negotiating the challenges of managing our association in these tough times. We are working diligently on many cost containments and revenue enhancements and hope that a bridge loan will not be necessary. However, if it becomes necessary, we want the Membership to be aware of how and why it is taking place." - MRPA President Linda Walter

Should the MRPA Board Approve the Resolution in Support of Complete Streets?

The MRPA Public Policy Committee has brought forth a resolution which was approved by the MRPA Board during the August vote. The resolution confirms the Association's support of the Complete Streets concept and proposed legislation, and additionally requests that a MRPA member serve as a member of the Complete Street Advisory Council.
