The MI Big Green Gym initiative is a partnership between Michigan Recreation and Park Association, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
The program is designed to promote overall well-being and a healthy lifestyle through use of parks. Simple concept, big idea. Michigan has some of the country's best parks which provide unique ways to stay active and spend time with family and community. MI Big Green Gym is comprised of participating state, county, and local parks; Michigan really is a big green gym - with endless opportunities to get active.
National Kids to Parks Day
MRPA is encouraging members to participate in National Kids to Parks Day on Saturday, May 16. The mission of Kids to Parks, a movement by the National Park Trust, is to encourage "children across the country to explore their neighborhood parks and discover science, history, nature and adventure right around the corner or just across town." How can you participate? Let us know if you have any family events at your parks on Saturday, May 16 - and we'll get them on the calendar to help promote the event. Want more? Register at kidstoparks.org to pledge your support and access tools and tips! Have your local officials sign the Kids to Parks Day proclamation and spread the word!
