Michigan Activity Pass Kicks Off!
May 24 marks the official opening of the 2015 Michigan Activity Pass. In a kick off press conference held on Monday Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM), Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Michigan Recreation and Park Association (MRPA), and the Library Network, all partners in the Michigan Activity Pass, got together to celebrate a new year of the program, and talk about the changes. New for 2015 is the addition of the MI Big Green Gym partners (BCBSM, DNR, MRPA) - this change expands the former "Park and Read" program to include over 100 participating cultural and historical institutions, such as the Michigan Historical Museum in Lansing.
Beginning May 24, library cardholders can print a pass from home of their library, that is valid for one-time entry into any Michigan state park or recreation area, and participating cultural institutions. Read more...
June 6 - National Trails Day
Saturday, June 6 is National Trails Day, the country's largest celebration of trails. Michigan is participating in all kinds of ways! Our friends at the Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance (MTGA) have compiled a calendar of trail-related events. Be sure to check out all the action happening with the Iron Belle Trail. Michigan's Iron Belle Trail is a statewide collaboration between state, local and federal partners, and in celebration of the collaboration, the MTGA has compiled a calendar of events and information about events taking place along the trail all summer. This statewide-celebration begins June 6, National Trails Day and continues through Michigan Trails Week in September.
